What is Data Streamer?
Use PASCO Data Streamer to collect data with PASCO Wireless Sensors and stream the data into an Excel workbook.
Installation and Setup
To stream data from PASCO Wireless Sensors to Excel, you need to install PASCO Data Streamer and enable the Excel Data Streamer add‑in.
Overview of the Excel Workbook
After connecting PASCO Data Streamer to Excel, Excel displays four customized spreadsheets by default. The two sheets used with PASCO sensors are the Data In and Settings sheets.
Using Data Streamer
Use Data Streamer to stream data from sensors, record the data, and visualize the data in different displays.
- Stream Data
  To stream data, connect a sensor to the PASCO Data Streamer app, then connect the app to Excel.
- Display Data
  Visualize data in a variety of ways including a graph, bar chart, and digital meter.
  - Display Data in a Graph
    Visualize streaming data as a graph using a scatter chart in Excel.
  - Display Data in a Bar Chart
    Visualize streaming data using a 2-D Column Chart in Excel.
  - Display Data in a Digital Meter
    Visualize a single measurement by creating a dynamic text box in Excel.
  - Min and Max Axis Values
    The maximum and minimum axis values on a chart change automatically by default, which can sometimes make data difficult to view. You can fix this by setting static minimum and maximum axis values.
- Manually Sample Data
  Manually record data points instead of continuously streaming data. This method is useful for displaying a sensor measurement versus a non-sensor measurement.
- Record and Replay Data
  Record data to a .csv file to replay data at a later time.
- Calibrating sensors
  If sensors are not measuring values as expected, you may need to calibrate the sensor.

  Learn how to use the sample workbook files provided on the Data Streamer page on the PASCO website.

Display Data in a Digital Meter

Visualize a single measurement by creating a dynamic text box in Excel.

Go to a spreadsheet that isn't a Data Streamer sheet, such as Sheet 1.
Go to the Insert ribbon and select Text Box.
Draw a text box anywhere on the sheet.
In the Formula Bar at the top of the sheet, enter a data cell from the Current Data table on the Data In sheet:
1. Select the Formula Bar.
2. Type =.
3. Click the Data In tab.
4. Type the cell location of the measurement. Example: B5.
5. Press Enter.
Go to the Data Streamer ribbon and click Start Data .

Customize the text box by adding additional text, such as the measurement name, and modify the style such as the text color and font.
