Connect a spectrometer

Connect a spectrometer to Spectrometry software.

Spectrometry is compatible with the following spectrometers:

Important

You may receive a notification to install a firmware update when connecting a spectrometer. If you receive this prompt, click Yes to update the firmware.

Wireless Connection

Note

Only the Wireless Spectrometer (PS-2600A, or PS-2600 for older models) can connect wirelessly to Spectrometry.

  1. Turn on the Wireless Spectrometer.
  2. If you are using a Chromebook, follow the instructions in this article to ensure that location services are enabled and that your device will be visible in the program's list of devices.
  3. Older PS-2600 models only: Pair the Wireless Spectrometer to your computing device using the computing device's Bluetooth settings. Make sure to pair the spectrometer matching the device ID number printed on the bottom of your Wireless Spectrometer. Click a link below for further information on how to pair a Bluetooth device:

    Note

    The PS-2600A model of the Wireless Spectrometer does not need to be paired.

  4. Open Spectrometry and click Choose Wireless Interface.

  5. From the list, select the spectrometer that matches the device ID number printed on your Wireless Spectrometer, then click Connect.

USB Connection

  1. Connect the spectrometer to a USB port (or powered USB hub) on your computer.
  2. Turn on the spectrometer.
  3. Open Spectrometry software. The program should automatically detect and recognize the spectrometer.
