Periodic table

The periodic table is accessible from the eBook home screen or page navigation bar by clicking the Elements icon. This is a digital version of the same periodic table that is found on the back inside cover of the Essential Chemistry hardcover textbook and in the equipment kit.

The periodic table shows the following information about each element:

  • Name and symbol
  • Atomic number
  • Atomic mass
  • Period number and group number
  • Classification as metal, nonmetal, or metalloid

In addition to the periodic table itself, the page includes helpful reference information such as a list of common polyatomic ions, a chart showing the atomic orbital types of each element, and a variety of relevant constants and formulas. This section also includes a table showing certain key information for the first 52 elements, including electronegativity, state at room temperature, and boiling and melting points at standard pressure.
