Manually enter data
Create and display user-entered data (UED).
-
From the table or graph and table page, select User-Entered Data from the Table toolbar.
-
In the New UED Data Properties window, enter a name for your data set in the "Measurement Name" box.
-
Select the box next to Measurement Type and review the list of options. If one of the options corresponds to the type of measurement that the manually entered data is simulating, select that option. The Default Units box will become active with a selectable list of common units corresponding to that measurement.
- If your data does not correspond to any of the listed type options, you may instead enter a unit for the data in the Unit Name text box. You may also leave this box blank if your data is unitless.
-
Select OK. A new column will appear in the table with the selected name and unit, with each row containing a blank text box.
-
Enter your desired data into the text boxes, starting from the first box and moving down the column.
After creating a UED measurement in the table page, you can display the manually-entered data on a graph by selecting the UED measurement on the y-axis and Index on the x-axis.
Change the name and units of user-entered data
Once a set of user-entered data has been created, you can edit the name and units of that data set through the following steps.
- Set up the table page so that the UED measurement you wish to edit is displayed in one of the columns.
- Select the Displayed Measurement button containing the current name of the data set.
-
Select Data Properties to open the Edit Data Properties window for the data set.
-
Enter a new name and unit into the appropriate text boxes.
- Select OK to close the window. The display will automatically update so that the UED now features the new name and units.
Create new data set for a UED measurement
Once you have created a measurement of manually entered data, additional sets of data points can be added to the same measurement.
- Set up the table display so that the desired UED measurement is displayed in one of the columns.
- Select the button reading "Set" underneath the name and units of the UED measurement.
-
From the dropdown list, select Create Data Set. This will automatically create a new set named "Set 2" for the measurement.
Note
It is not possible to rename the sets of UED measurements.
-
Enter values into the new data set.
Repeat these steps to produce additional data sets. You can switch between data sets at any time by selecting the name of the currently selected set and choosing another data set from the dropdown list.
