Share data on mobile devices

Share experiment files or data with another device or application.

The version of Chemvue available on mobile devices allows you to share experiment files, CSV data files, or page snapshots with a nearby device via Bluetooth, or with certain external applications such as Google Drive or email applications. The exact functionality of this feature varies depending on whether the program is in General Data Collection mode or in a specialized module.

Note

For detailed instructions on sharing files from a mobile device, see the technical documentation for your specific device.

General Data Collection

When Chemvue is in General Data Collection mode on a mobile device, a new Share icon ( on Android devices, on iOS) will appear in the navigation bar to the left of the Bluetooth button. Selecting this icon will open a list of available Bluetooth devices and external applications to which content can be shared. Selecting a device or application will allow you to share the .chemlab file for the active experiment with that device or application.

In addition, on mobile, the table, graph, and graph and table pages feature changes to specific tools, allowing you to share specific data from your experiment without sharing the entire file:

  • On the table page (or the table section on the graph and table page), the Export Data tool now brings up the options Share and Save to File System. The Share option allows you to share a CSV file containing your collected table data with another device via Bluetooth, or with a compatible external application. Save to File System instead saves the CSV file locally on your mobile device.
  • On the graph page (or the graph section of the graph and table page), the Export Graph Image tool now brings up the options Share and Save to File System. The Share option allows you to share an image of the graph and its displayed contents with another device via Bluetooth, or with a compatible external application. Save to File System instead saves the image locally on your mobile device.

Modules

On mobile devices, the Export Page Image tool in the navigation bar of all specialized modules will be replaced with a Share icon ( on Android devices, on iOS). When selected, this icon brings up a list of options for how to share the content of your experiment:

  • Share Experiment File: Shares the entire .chemlab file of the current experiment.
  • Share Selected Data (Spectrometry Module only): Shares a CSV file containing only the runs of data currently selected on the active tab on the page currently being viewed. To include a run in this selection, ensure that the box next to that run is checked in the legend on the graph.

    Note

In the case of the tabs on the solution concentration page, all data points are considered to be part of a single run. Therefore, all points will be included in the CSV file when sharing selected data from this page.

  • Share Page Image: Shares a screenshot of the currently displayed page and its contents.

  • Share Spectrometry App File (Spectrometry Module only): Shares the entire experiment as a .splab file, compatible with the standalone Spectrometry app (version 3.0 or later).
